Christmas Gifts for Teachers: Personalised Thank Yous from £4.95

Most of the teacher gifts we engrave say "Miss", "Mrs" or "Mr" and a surname, and they often come in pairs: one for the teacher and one for the classroom assistant. These are our personalised teacher Christmas gifts. They're small, made to order in our workshop in Scotland, where we've been making gifts since 2014, and they start at £4.95.

Our favourites are a Best Teacher tree decoration for their Christmas tree (£5), a 30cm oak ruler with their name on (£6.50), a slate coaster with words from the class (£6.50) and a Best Teacher medal from your child (£5). Every gift here can carry the teacher's name. The Christmas decorations say either Best Teacher or their name, not both. If you'd like both, the Best Teacher medal has Best Teacher, their name and your child's name too.

Best Teacher Christmas decorations

Our Best Teacher tree decoration is a little Christmas tree topped with a star, with "Best Teacher" in flowing script. If you'd rather, we'll engrave their name instead, using the name the class calls them, so "Mrs Patel" or "Mr Shaw". It's one or the other, Best Teacher or the name. There's room for up to 25 characters, and we make it exactly as you type it.

It's cut from mirrored acrylic, so it catches the fairy lights when it's on the tree. It's about 10cm high, which is small enough to tuck inside a Christmas card, and it comes with a ribbon ready to hang. Choose from eight colours: silver, gold, rose gold, pink, red, purple, blue and teal. It costs £5.

A box of chocolates is gone by Boxing Day. A decoration comes out of the box again every December, and they'll remember your child's class when they hang it up.

If you'd like a round one, there's also our Best Teacher Christmas decoration in a bauble shape: "Best Teacher" with stars inside a bauble ring, about 11cm high, in the same eight colours, for £6. Leave the name box blank for Best Teacher, or type their name, such as "Miss Duncan", to have that instead.

Gifts they'll use every day: rulers, keyrings, a coaster and a desk apple

Our 30cm Personalised Teacher Ruler is our best-selling teacher gift. It's 4mm oak veneer, 30cm long, with cm and inch markings, engraved with the teacher's name. Lots of people add a little pun after the name, like "Mrs Patel You rule!", and that fits in the 25 characters. It's £6.50.

The Personalised Teacher Apple Keyring is oak veneer with an engraved apple design, about 6 x 4.5cm, on a silver-tone keyring and chain. Add their name or a short message, and it goes on their keys, bag or lanyard. It's £4.95, the smallest gift here.

For the desk, our Personalised Freestanding Wooden Apple is 4mm oak veneer, 13cm high and 10cm wide, and stands in a wooden base. It's engraved with their name or a short message and costs £6.95.

If the whole class is clubbing together, the Teacher's Slate Coaster is a nice one. It's heavyweight natural slate, about 10 x 10cm, engraved with the teacher's name and up to 10 words or short phrases. Ask the children for a word each, such as kind, patient, funny and caring, then finish with the class name, for example "from P2B". It's £6.50.

A Best Teacher medal

If you'd like your child's name on the gift as well as the teacher's, the Best Teacher medal does both. It's engraved with "Officially the World's Best Teacher" and the teacher's name, and there's an optional "From" box for the child who's awarding it, so it could be for Miss Duncan, awarded by Jamie.

It's 4mm oak veneer, about 8.5cm across, on a red satin ribbon so it can be worn on the day and hung up afterwards. It's £5. Children love handing this one over, because it's a proper award.

Don't forget the teaching assistant, nursery staff and coaches

The Best Teacher decorations make a lovely gift for teaching assistants too: put their name on instead of Best Teacher, and pick a different colour so the teacher and the assistant each have their own. We've made teacher gifts for nursery teachers and childminders as well, and pairs for job-share teachers.

Coaches and club leaders get thanked at Christmas too, and we've made decorations engraved "Sensei" and a name for karate instructors, and a set for a tennis club. Our sports decorations have a design for each sport, so have a look at our Christmas gifts for coaches.

Buying for more than one? Multi-buy and free delivery

There's no right amount to spend, and a small gift with their name on is plenty. All our Christmas tree decorations are in our multi-buy, and you can mix and match the designs: 2 for 10% off, 3 for 15% off, and 4 or more for 20% off. The saving comes off automatically in your basket, there's no code to type, and it runs until 24 December. Both Best Teacher decorations are included. The ruler, keyring, apple, coaster and medal aren't part of it.

So a Best Teacher tree for the teacher and a bauble with "Mrs Begum" on for the assistant comes to £9.90 instead of £11.

Lots of people add the teacher gifts to their own family Christmas order, and UK delivery is free on orders over £20. Ordering in time for the end of term

Teacher gifts have an earlier deadline than the rest of your Christmas shopping. They need to be in your child's school bag before the last week of term, not under the tree on Christmas Day.

Everything is made to order and dispatched in 2 to 5 working days, then Royal Mail or Evri usually take 2 to 3 working days. UK delivery is free on orders over £20. Our last order date for Christmas is Monday 14 December, but the end of term comes first, and our busiest weeks are the second half of November and the first week of December. So for teacher gifts, please order early: we'd suggest by the end of November.

Before you order, check how the teacher spells their name, for example on a school letter, as we make it exactly as typed.

Christmas gifts for teachers: your questions

How much should I spend on a Christmas gift for my child's teacher?

A few pounds is plenty. Our teacher gifts start at £4.95, so one for the teacher and one for the assistant comes to about £10 to £14 in total. It's the personal touch, their name and a word from your child, that they keep.

Can you put the teacher's name on it?

Yes, every gift here can carry the teacher's name. On the Christmas decorations it's one or the other: Best Teacher or their name. The Best Teacher medal has both, plus your child's name in the "From" box. Type the name as the class uses it, such as "Mrs Patel".

Do you have Christmas gifts for teaching assistants?

Yes. The Best Teacher Christmas decorations work for teaching assistants with their name on instead of Best Teacher, and the keyring, ruler and coaster all take any name. Many parents order one for the teacher and one for the assistant together.

If I order for the teacher and the TA, do I get free delivery?

Free UK delivery is for orders over £20, and two teacher gifts on their own come to less than that. Lots of people add them to their own family Christmas order, and two or more Christmas tree decorations get the multi-buy discount.

When should I order teacher gifts for the end of term?

By the end of November. The last week of term comes before our last Christmas order date of Monday 14 December, and each gift takes 2 to 5 working days to make and dispatch, plus 2 to 3 working days in the post. If you're gathering a word from each child for the slate coaster, allow time for that too.
