Personalised Christmas Place Names for Your Christmas Day Table
A name at every place saves the "where do I sit?" shuffle on Christmas Day, makes each guest feel expected, and gives them a little something to take home once the pudding's gone. Our personalised Christmas place names (some people call them place cards) come in seven designs, in oak or acrylic, from a single name up to a set of 10, and you'll find them all in our personalised Christmas place settings collection. The oak tags are our long-standing favourite, and the standing reindeer has been the one to beat since we added it.
Oak Christmas tree, snowflake and stag place names
Our Christmas tree place names are the design our customers have chosen most over the years. Each tag is laser cut from 4mm oak veneer, 8cm high and about 4cm wide, with a little tree cut out at the top and the name engraved underneath. They're finished with twine, so in our photos we've tied them round rolled napkins.
The same tag comes with a snowflake or a stag instead of the tree: our snowflake place names and stag place names are the same size, oak and price. All three are £2.50 for one, £11.50 for a set of 6 or £16.50 for a set of 10, which works out at £1.65 a name.
"Items look amazing and will set off my Christmas dinner perfectly," said a customer about the stag design, and another called the snowflakes "Lovely and well made." We've been making gifts by hand in Scotland since 2014, and our customers rate us 4.9 from 760 reviews.
Reindeer place names
Our reindeer place names stand upright on the plate, which makes them the easiest to spot when everyone sits down. Each reindeer is made from oak veneer with cute antlers, engraved eyes and a red nose, and they're 10cm high and about 4cm wide. They're sturdy enough to come out again next Christmas.
You choose the nose for the set: a red felt heart or red glitter. They're £3.50 for one, £18 for a set of 6 or £28 for a set of 10.
Acrylic place names
For a sleeker table, our acrylic place names are the name itself, laser cut from acrylic in red, gold, silver or rose gold. Each one is roughly 8 to 12cm wide, depending on the length of the name, and you choose one colour for the set. They're £2 for one, £11.25 for a set of 6 or £18.50 for a set of 10.
In the photos, red names sit on each plate under a napkin bow. They're easy to clean and can be used again next year or taken home as a keepsake.
Santa and elf place names
For a bit of sparkle, our Santa place names and elf place names are laser cut from 4mm oak veneer and finished with twine and added sparkle. As the photos show, each one is a big letter with the name engraved along it, under a glittery Santa or elf hat. They're 8cm high and about 4cm wide. Elf is £4 for one or £34.50 for 10, and Santa is £5 for one or £36.50 for 10.
How many do I need? Set sizes and prices
Every design comes in sets of 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10, and sets of 6 and 10 are the ones our customers choose most. Sets of 4 or more cost less per name than buying singles, and the set of 10 is the best value in every design: £1.65 a name for the oak tags, £1.85 for acrylic and £2.80 for the reindeer.
| Design | 1 | 4 | 6 | 10 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Christmas tree | £2.50 | £9.00 | £11.50 | £16.50 |
| Snowflake | £2.50 | £9.00 | £11.50 | £16.50 |
| Stag | £2.50 | £9.00 | £11.50 | £16.50 |
| Reindeer | £3.50 | £12.50 | £18.00 | £28.00 |
| Santa | £5.00 | £17.00 | £24.00 | £36.50 |
| Elf | £4.00 | £14.50 | £21.50 | £34.50 |
| Acrylic | £2.00 | £7.50 | £11.25 | £18.50 |
Choose your set size, then type all the names into the Names box, separated by commas, exactly as you'd like them to appear. Most tables mix first names with family names, so a set of 10 might be:
Mum, Dad, Granny, Grandad, Auntie Mel, Uncle Gus, Ella, Alfie, Ruby, Noah
If two guests share a name, say two Grandads, type it twice: Grandad, Grandad. That way we know to make two. Some families even set a place for Santa. The box tells you how many names to add for the set you've picked, and before you add to basket you'll see a "What we'll make" check. We make them exactly as typed, so it's worth checking the spelling (Nana or Nanna?).
Numbers don't always land on a set size. For seven guests, add a set of 1 to a set of 6, or choose a set of 8 and keep a spare for a last-minute guest.
After dinner: on the tree or on a present
The oak tree, snowflake and stag tags, and the Santa and elf letters, double up as Christmas tree decorations, so each guest can take theirs home and hang it on their own tree. They can even be used as gift tags. The reindeer and acrylic names are made to be kept and brought out again next Christmas.
Christmas gift tags for the presents
Once the table's sorted, there are the presents to label. Our something you want, something you need gift tags are made for the four gift rule. They come as a set of 4, laser cut and engraved from 4mm oak veneer, each about 10cm high, with twine already threaded through so they're ready to tie on.
Choose the Christmas theme Set, with a tree, a present, a reindeer and a snowflake, or the Star Design Set, with little stars around the words. They're £5 a set, and there are no names to type.
For the present that Santa brings, our Special Delivery Santa tag is cut from 4mm oak veneer, about 12cm high, with the child's name on it, for £5.
Ordering in time for Christmas
Place names are usually the last thing on the Christmas list, because you need the final guest list first. Most of our place setting orders come in between mid-November and early December. Everything is made to order and dispatched in 2 to 5 working days.
Our last order date for delivery before Christmas is Monday 14 December. Most people have ordered by the start of December, and that's our advice too: order your personalised Christmas place names as soon as the list is settled. If one guest is still a maybe, add a set of 1 to the same order as a spare.
UK delivery is free on orders over £20. For more ideas, see our personalised Christmas gifts.
Personalised Christmas place names: your questions
What do you put on a Christmas place setting?
Usually just the name each guest is called at the table, such as Ella, Granny or Uncle Gus. Type the names in the Names box separated by commas, exactly as you'd like them, and type a name twice if two guests share it.
Can Christmas place names be used as tree decorations?
Yes, our oak Christmas tree, snowflake and stag tags and the Santa and elf letters double up as tree decorations, as they're finished with twine. The standing reindeer and the acrylic names are kept for the table and reused each year instead.
What is the four gift rule?
Each child gets four presents: something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read. Our oak "Something" gift tags label each one and cost £5 for the set of 4.
Does the tree decoration multi-buy apply to place settings?
No. Our Christmas multi-buy (2 for 10% off, 3 for 15% off, 4 or more for 20% off) is for tree decorations only, so it doesn't apply to place settings, even the ones that hang on the tree afterwards. The saving on place settings is in the set price instead.
When should I order Christmas place names?
As soon as your guest list is settled, and by the start of December if you can. They're dispatched in 2 to 5 working days, and the last order date for delivery before Christmas is Monday 14 December. If one guest is unsure, add a spare set of 1 to the same order.
